 - [ author's homepage ]
Reactive Armor is a complete top-down tile-based tank fighting game. It features pixel-perfect collision detection, real-time AI and pathfinding, and more! Though not technically an RPG it definately has parts to it that would be very useful to look at for the development of an RPG!

Peter's Smooth-Scrolling Tile Demo - by Peter Kuchnio
 - [ author's homepage ]
Another demo illustrating how to smoothly scroll your tile-based game instead of jumping tile-by-tile. I suggest looking at Lucky's smooth-scrolling tile demo as well, and choosing the method you think is best for you!

A cool sample showing how to use Direct3D to draw your 2d tiles in an isometric perspective (3d +2d = so-called 5d). This is definately something to check out if you're looking into this new style of development.
